Much of Lebanon’s natural and cultural heritage remains hidden within local villages and unindexed by commercial travel platforms. Developed in partnership with the Nature Conservation Center at AUB and Fondation Diane, Daskara is a crowdsourced digital map documenting local nature sites, eco-solutions, and authentic village experiences.
Lebanon has a rich natural, cultural, and historical heritage spread across villages, towns, mountains, coastlines, local communities, businesses, and environmental initiatives.
However, much of this knowledge is fragmented and difficult to discover through a single digital platform. Visitors and residents may struggle to find lesser-known cultural sites, nature experiences, local businesses, eco-friendly initiatives, recreational activities, and authentic village experiences.
At the same time, many small local businesses and community initiatives have limited digital visibility.
Daskara was created to make Lebanon's natural and cultural heritage easier to discover while giving local communities a platform to contribute and share their knowledge. The app describes itself as a repository of community-sourced information about natural and cultural sites and initiatives across Lebanon.

The challenge was to create a digital platform that could document, organize, discover, and promote Lebanon's natural and cultural heritage while allowing the community itself to contribute to the platform.

The application was developed as a joint project between the Nature Conservation Center at the American University of Beirut and Fondation Diane.
